Blue Point Grill is a very popular, fine dining seafood restaurant located in downtown Cleveland. I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant because I love seafood and have heard many good things about it. It also have great ratings on various websites so this has been on my list of things to try.

So.. let’s start with the customer service and ambiance. The customer service was an easy 5/5 stars, our waiter was accommodating to our needs, was super kind and patient, and acknowledged us when the time was right. He was very aware of typical things servers should be aware of, and was very attentive. The hostess’ were also very nice, and making the reservations was easy as well. Overall, the customer service was great and made the experience a good one. It is very nice restaurant – something you should dress up for, and it is quite relaxing and beautiful inside (unless you’re sitting by the bar). Unfortunately, the hostess sat us by the bar so we were very secluded from the dining room.
Now, for the food, we ordered one of my favorites – mussels. These are probably the best mussels I have ever had, a big portion for $9 which isn’t bad at all considering mussels aren’t cheap. I usually have to try mussels at any restaurant that has them, and these were no doubt the best! The broth that the mussels were cooked in was perfect, I almost wanted to just drink that! Lol!
As for my salad, I ordered an arugula salad which was quite big for a side salad, so that was nice. The dressing was just white wine vinegar, which I really wish I knew because it made my lips burn the whole night. The salad wasn’t anything special, literally arugula and goat cheese, not worth the money at all. My boyfriend did order lobster bisque, which was actually really good, and did have a fair amount of lobster.
For entrees, both ordered salmon which was on top of risotto and a side of lobster mashed potatoes. I was disappointed in all of it, the potatoes were cold and honestly had no lobster in it, they were also hard and just had no taste. I was so excited to try them and they were just not what I thought they’d be! As for our entrees, all I could taste was salt and it was so disgusting. The salmon was pretty good as the outside was crunchy and the inside was soft, but the risotto and vegetables just ruined it with the salt that filled my mouth.
Dessert wasn’t too bad, a flourless chocolate cake with ganache and a cookie on top. If you like chocolate, you will definitely like this. It is very soft and creamy inside.
Paying so much for a restaurant like this, you really expect your food to be good, or at least not so salty. It could also be the chef that was working, because I know this restaurant usually gets good reviews, but I doubt I will go back!
