Best of: Primers – drugstore & high end

It’s good to use a primer if you are applying make-up to your face as it creates a smoother canvas and make-up lasts longer. Below are my favorite primers, both drugstore and high end/prestige.

TOO FACED Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer – $32 for 1.35 oz.

This has always been my go-to primer, one of my favorites. When I had sensitive skin, I would use the sensitive version and I loved it. It creates a perfect canvas smooth on the face that makes applying foundation easy. I love how “awake” my skin looks after putting it on, and it’s even suggested to use on its own. I love that this primer has amazing ingredients for the skin; vitamin a, c (my favorite to use on my face), mulberry extract, and retinol.

TARTE Poreless Mattifying Primer – $32

This is a newer primer and I like it a lot! Of course I love the packaging because it’s purple, but the formula is good. It’s used for combination skin, leaving a matte finish. I do have dry patches on my face sometimes, which makes applying foundation annoying, but when using this it this covers it and makes applying foundation easier.

BAREMINERALS Prime Time™ BB Primer-Cream Daily Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30 – $27

This primer has a ton of benefits in one, it’s . It has SPF 30 which is great, moisturizes, primes, and evens out skin tone. I also love that it is tinted; I like to wear it on its own most days.

BENEFIT COSMETICS The POREfessional Face Primer – $49 for 1.5 oz.

A foundation that is good for combination skin. This is a very expensive primer but does what it says, creates a smooth canvas, has Vitamin E, and helps keep makeup on all day. It’s easy to apply & makes skin very soft.

STILA One Step Correct – $36 for 1 oz.

A primer serum that color corrects, primes, and nourishes the skin. It absorbs quickly and makes skin really soft. I even like to wear this alone as the color correcting quality is great. If used as a primer, it helps make-up last all day.

NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Honey Dew Me Up Skin Serum & Primer – $13 for .776 oz.

Great for people who have discoloration, as it minimizes redness and creates a radiant look which lasts all day. The gold flakes in this primer help create radiance, the collagen helps strengthen skin, and the honey is a natural antiseptic. This is my favorite drugstore primer!

E.L.F. COSMETICS Mineral Infused Face Primer – $6 for .5 oz.

Great for combination skin, helps fight against dry skin while getting rid of excess oil and creating a smooth canvas for makeup. This is my second favorite drugstore primer!

NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer – $15 for 1.02 oz.

A primer that is good for oily skin, I like to use this when it’s hot outside. It’s minimizes shine, and creates a smooth base for makeup.

NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Pore Filler – $14 for .67 oz.

Great for filling in pores & creating a great base for foundation.
